Re: Out of Work List Changes
Dear Scott:
This letter will confirm that the Government has approved dividing the Dockbuilders Local 1456 New Jersey and Long Island lists into North Jersey and South Jersey, and Nassau and Suffolk county lists. The new North Jersey list will consist of Sussex, Bergen, Warren, Morris, Passaic, Hudson, Essex and Union counties. The new South Jersey list will consist of Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex, Monmouth and Mercer counties. Peter Thomassen has requested that these changes be instituted as soon as possible. As we have discussed, when the lists are divided, all members will be placed on the two new lists in the same position they were on the united list.
Members of Local 1456 will be notified by mail of the effective date of the new lists. In order to facilitate a timely preparation and mailing of that notification, you will have to notify Pete with an effective date. The first 60 days after implementation will be an adjustment period during which a member will have one opportunity to refuse a referral in a jurisdiction and then their name will be taken off of that list.
Also, you may add "Welding - AWS Certified" (American Welding Society) to all craft lists. In accordance with the guidelines agreed to with the Government and information provided by the Labor Technical School, this course has been in the School more than twice during the last six months.
