1   Jeremiah Casey   190

2   about?

3   A   Not that I can think of, no.

4   They were always watching; they were always

5   around the corner measuring you, how much you

6   had done.

Q   Who are you talking about when you say "they"?

9   A   Derek or Sean or Mark. Mark was

10   a good guy, he never broke your balls, but

11   the bosses did.

12   Q   What were they doing in terms

13   of

14   A   They would come in at 7:00 in the

15   morning and asked you where you start. Just

16   that: I'm the boss and you work for me;

17   that's it

18   Q   I want to give you an opportunity

19   now, because we still have some work to do

20   here, but I want you to explain to the judge

21   through me, why, when you were down here back

22   in June, you didn't tell me then what the

23   truth was. And explain it in your own words.

24   What were the pressures that kept you from

25   honoring your oath back in June?

2

A   More or less -- it was just --if

3

I had went down here that time and said the

4

truth,   I would not have had a job to go to.

5

If it got out in this industry that you were

6

the guy who gave up evidence,   you would never

7

again work in this town.

8

Q   Tell me how you know that.

9

A   Word gets around.

10

Q   That what?

11

A   Oh,   you're a rat or you're

12

whatever,   you know.

13

Q   Then what would happen?

14

A   You wouldn't keep working,   you

15

would lose your job.

16

Q   Did anyone threaten you with

17

losing your job?

18

A   No,   not threaten.

19

Q   Let me choose my word.   Did

20

anyone caution you or advise you to come down

21

and lie here?

22

A   Yeah.

23

Q   Who?

24

A   Yes.

25

Q   Who?

pressure that you fell under,   so that the

3

judge,   when he reads this report,   the clerks,

4

can put themselves in your shoes.

5

This is an opportunity to tell

6

the truth.   If you choose to follow or pursue

7

it or not,   it is up to you.   If you want to

8

say a few words about that,   here's your

9

opportunity.   If not,   we'll move on.

10

A   If I had given up everyone at

11

that time,   word would have gone out,   because

12

there was so many guys came down here before

13

me.   And whether they had been here before me

14

or after me,   it still would have been on me,

15

that I was the one --

16

Q   Who gave them up?

17

A   -- who gave them all up.

18

Q   What would have been the

19

consequence,   what would have happened if that

20

came out?

21

A   As a carpenter,   you could forget

22

about working in the City.   If you're not

23

liked,   you're not going to stay working.

24

Q   Explain to me why that is,   why

25

wouldn't you be hired if you honored your
