RE: Protest Chicago Regional
Council of Carpenters/
2005 Regional Delegate Election/Regional Council Executive Board
Elections
Dear Ms. Kebisek,
Please let this letter serve as notice as to my protest of the Regional Council Delegate election of the Regional Council Executive Board with in the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters. Let this letter further serve as a request for an investigation as to the election procedure practices within the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters as to pre-election conduct at various Regional locals and specifically the locals that comprised the old Chicago District Council of Carpenters—pre June 2005,in this past Regional Delegate election. This was the point in time of the re-organization of the Council to a Regional Council.
Enclosed is my initial protest to the International. No determination has been received from General President Douglas McCarron. Also in my protest was a request for a copy of all reports, statements and other documents used in the disposition of my protest as per my rights to equal treatment and participation under the Act.
As in past protests of elections and pre-election activities with in the UBC, no definitive information or proclamation of published and accepted procedures for the democratic running of elections are ever furnished or referenced. If a publication exist and is not cited in a response to a protest by the union and President McCarron, this would be unfortunate. If this same publication is used to respond to an OLMS inquiry of an election protest, it would seem to me to be a violation of the protesting member’s rights under section 105 of the LMRDA. The protest is also a request by a member to tell him his rights under the “Act” that he feels a Local or Regional Council violated. This protest or appeal to the International for redress of election issues begs for determination from the constitutional authority-Douglas McCarron. The non-reply in both the 2 lastest protest to the OLMS from this member leaves a great void in the information that should be available to members in the UBC election process. While I do not mind to be ‘set up’ as an activist I do not like being left ignorant when the law states I am entitled to be informed of my rights with in a labor union.
. Thank you for your time and effort and I wait to hear from you or your department
Sincerely
Jeff Fearon local 58
