Dear Peter:
Wendell Hawkins cell phone number is ***
He works in the tunnel where cell phones don't
work.
His home phone is ***
Wendell is the most honest black brother I have in
local 2.
He is a good worker and does not have to worry
about getting a job.
He called both local 2 and local 225 in late 1999
and early 2000 (Jan, Feb March)
to report a contractor that was stiffing workers on
welfare and pension benefits.
They were fighting on his behalf to recover unpaid
benefits, Sam Salerno was trustee
at 225, Verne Pappas of Lockport Il was the field
rep for 225 ( Home ****
.
Both, to my understanding, would call as a
routine another local to see if that local's member was in good
standing and eligible to work on jobs under
their jurisdiction . They called local 2 in March
2000 and were told Wendell was in good standing and
so told Wendell.
Joanne Caruso might be willing to admit another
possibility was an oversight on her part.
She was asked not to lie and to scratch her memory
about the last time and only time
she might have seen Wendell. Ask her what was the
last time she saw him. It was more
than likely January 2000 when Wendell told his
mechanic to lock up the job site
because he had to go to Local 2 to pay his
dues.
The May 31, 2000 dues paid were paid by Wendell's
boss/friend who is willing to state
that he was not told anything about a reinstatement
fee when he paid the $241 Wendell
was told to pay to get his jacket. The boss did not
give any change back to Wendell
and did not advance any money out of his pocket for
Wendell. That he is sure of.
he knows he went and paid both his dues and
Wendell's.
Wendell always pays in cash and does not have a
checking account to the best of my
knowledge.
I am asking for the union meeting sign up sheets
for March, April, May 2000 to document
Wendell attended meetings. You might get them
before I do. The Election Officer
did not check these.
Wendell has waited 25 years to run in a free fair
election where people will be judged
on their character and not the color of their skin.
Matassa is out. Wendell was part
of the reform group that forced the emergency
trusteeship. I vouch for his integrity
and trustworthiness.
I wish I didn't have to file appeals and protests.
If I don't, nobody will be there to defend
my union brothers.
If you have a chance, call Scigalski on his cell
phone *****
He will tell you it is my slate versus the
organized crime slate as I call them on the internet.
