On March 10, 1999 Local #5 representatives went to it's typical Southside  Safety Committee Meeting. There were approximately 18 business Agents from all of the trades represented there. One of the stops was in Palos on a good job gone bad by the developer. All of the agents converged on the site at the same time. The developer became nervous and called the police. We were all asked to "&.19 (because it was private property) and we did. This action didn't turn the job around but it is the first of many actions that will be taken against this developer. OUT OF WORK LIST INFORMATION

Local 5 has been experiencing some problems with Rule #2 on the Out of Work List.

Rule #2 reads: A laborer must register in person within 90 days (3 months) from his or her last registration date or you will be removed from the list.

These rules are passed down to all of the local unions in every state of the country.

Here at the Local 5 we are going to make some changes to help the members remember RULE #2.

1. Next to your name on the out of work list will be your re-registration date

.2. We're giving out the rules with your re-registration date and signature of on the out of work list.

There are two reasons for doing this. One is so that the union knows that the member has received his re-registration date and the other is for the member to take home rules with his re-registration date posted on it for future reference. 

Feel free to call your Local Union at any time and ask when your re-registration date is.

LOCAL UNION MEETING CHANGED

The Local 5 membership meetings have been changed from the first Tuesday to the first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. Same location at Carpenters Hall #272, 821 Chicago Road, Chicago Heights.
