April, 1903 --- Charter issued to International Hodcarriers' and Building Laborers' Union of America


Sept., 1912 --- New charter issued to International Hodcarriers' and Common Laborers' Union of America. Added "Common Laborers employed in the construction of streets, sewers and tunnels" to jurisdiction at Atlanta Convention. (Resolution 129)

Dec., 1912 --- Name changed to International Hod Carriers', Building and Common Laborers' Union of America.


1914/ 34th A.F. of L. Convention - A.F. of L. directs members of the American Federation of Cement Workers who are employed as laborers to be turned over to the Hod Carriers, Building and Common Laborers' International Union.


Nov., 1917 --- Almagamation agreement between International Hod Carriers', Building and Common Laborers' Union of America and the International Compressed Air and Foundation Workers of the U.S. and Canada.

May 8, 1919 --- Agreement reached between Carpenters, Laborers, Sheet Metal Workers, Boilermakers and Iron Workers on jurisdiction over Shipyard Laborers:

"All rigging in shipyards, equipment and installation plants and yards in the construction and repairing of ships shall belong to the Ironworkers, except such rigging necessary for the Sheet Metal Workers, Boilermakers, or Iron Ship Builders to do in connection with the handling and erection of their work; the helpers and apprentices come under the jurisdiction of the various trades; the wood fasteners come under the jurisdiction of the Carpenters; and all laborers come under the jurisdiction of the International Hod Carriers', Building and Common Laborers' Union of America."


Feb., 1929 --- By agreement, the Tunnel and Subway Constructors' International Union merged with the International Hod Carriers', Building and Common Laborers' Union of America.


Feb., 1937 --- By agreement, the International Union of Pavers, Rammermen, Flag Layers, Bridge and Stone Setters and Sheet Asphalt Pavers was merged with the International Hod Carriers', Building and Common Laborers' Union of America.

Sept., 1965 --- AFL-CIO approves name change to Laborers' International Union of North America.


Jan., 1968 --- By agreement, the Journeyman Stone Cutters' Association of North America merged with the Laborers' International Union of North America.


May, 1968 --- AFL-CIO Executive Council approved merger of National Association of Post Office Mail Handlers, Watchmen, Messengers and Group Leaders with the Laborers' International Union of North America.
