LIUNA Election Calendar of Important Dates

2001 Election Schedule 1996 Election Schedule

(All dates are 2001, unless otherwise stated. 
All references are to these Rules)

September 1, 2000 Effective date of Rules (Article XIII, Section 7)
October 1 LIUNA shall transmit to the Election Officer a copy of the current LIUNA membership list, and the Election Officer will release a random sample of that list to all accredited candidates for International Office. (Article IV, Section 5).
October 5 Last day on which protests may be filed alleging a violation of Rules occurring between September 1 and September 30. (Article IX, Section 1).
October 10 First Campaign Financing and Expenditure Report ("CFER") must be filed with Election Officer (Article VII, Section 5(i)(1)).
January 10, 2001 Second Campaign Financing and Expenditure Report ("CFER") must be filed with Election Officer (Article VII, Section 5(i)(2)).
February 15 The General Secretary-Treasurer shall issue a Convention Call to each Local Union (Article I, Section A.3).
March 1 Each Local must have selected Election Judges for the delegate election (Article I, Section B.2)
March 1 Each Local shall complete and submit to the Election Officer an Election Plan Form (Article I, Section A.4).
April 1 LIUNA shall transmit to the Election Officer a copy of the current LIUNA membership list, and the Election Officer will release a random sample of that list to all accredited candidates for International Office. (Article IV, Section 5).
April 1 Each Local shall prepare and make available to all candidates a list of all worksites where members are working as of the date of the Convention Call (Article IV, Section 1).
April 10 Third Campaign Financing and Expenditure Report ("CFER") must be filed with Election Officer (Article VII, Section 5(i)(3)).
May 1-May 31 All Local Unions shall conduct nominations for delegates to the LIUNA Convention (Article I, Section A.2).
June 1-June 30 All Local Unions shall conduct elections for delegates to the LIUNA Convention (Article I, Section A.2).
June 1 Worksite lists to be updated and made available to candidates (Article IV, Section 1).
July 10 Fourth Campaign Financing and Expenditure Report ("CFER") must be filed with Election Officer (Article VII, Section 5(i)(4)).
July 15 The Election Officer shall furnish to each declared and accredited candidate for International Office a list of all delegates eligible to nominate or vote on the office that candidate is seeking (Article IV, Section 3).
August 15 The General Secretary-Treasurer shall review with the Election Officer the records of all Local Unions showing the monies paid, or all arrearages and monies due, to determine if the Local is current in all payments (Article X, Section 2).
September 1 LIUNA shall transmit to the Election Officer a copy of the current LIUNA membership list, and the Election Officer will, immediately after the Convention, release that list to all nominated candidates for International Office. (Article IV, Section 5).
September 1 Last date on which a petition for accreditation may be filed. (Article IV, Section 4(i)).
September 1 The Election Officer shall issue an initial report on delegate credentials (Article X, Section 2).
September 3 Last date on which a member wishing to seek the office of General President, General Secretary-Treasurer, or Vice President may declare his intention in writing to the Election Officer, indicating the office he wishes to seek (Article II, Section 3).
September 10 Fifth Campaign Financing and Expenditure Report ("CFER") must be filed with Election Officer (Article VII, Section 5(i)(5)).
September 10  The Election Officer shall issue a final report on delegate credentials (Article X, Section 2).
September 17-20 International Convention
September 30 Last date on which candidates for International Officer who wish to run as part of a slate may file slate declaration forms with the Election Officer (Article V, Section 1).
October 1 Worksite lists to be updated and made available to all candidates (Article IV, Section 1).
October10  Sixth Campaign Financing and Expenditure Report ("CFER") must be filed with Election Officer (Article VII, Section 5(i)(6)).
October 20 The International Union shall prepare and transfer to the Election Officer a list of the names and addresses of all members in good standing as of September 30, 2001 (Article XI, Section 4). 
November 10 Seventh Campaign Financing and Expenditure Report ("CFER") must be filed with Election Officer (Article VII, Section 5(i)(7)).
November - December  International Officer Election, (Article XI, Section 1).
January 10, 2002 Final Campaign Financing and Expenditure Report ("CFER") must be filed with Election Officer (Article VII, Section 5(i)(8)).
